Manila, Philippines - Vice President Sara Duterte scores big at the Supreme Court! The nation’s highest tribunal junked the impeachment complaint against her, calling it UNCONSTITUTIONAL for violating the one-year bar rule.
In a unanimous decision, the SC ruled that the case was filed too early, making it dead on arrival. But here’s the kicker—the Court clarified it’s not clearing Duterte of the charges, just tossing the complaint on technical grounds.
“The Senate never got jurisdiction,” said SC Spokesperson Atty. Camille Ting. “But the door is still open for another impeachment after February 6, 2026.”
The complaint accused Duterte of misusing public funds and threatening President Bongbong Marcos and other top officials—explosive claims that had the nation watching closely.
Duterte’s camp cheered the ruling, calling it a victory for the Constitution. “The case was flawed from the start,” said her legal team. “This protects officials from political witch hunts.”
But critics are FUMING.
“The SC is now the Supreme Coddler of Duterte!” blasted Akbayan Rep. Perci Cendaña. “This sets a dangerous precedent. Crooked politicians can just hide behind the Court!”
The House of Representatives vowed to respect the ruling, but won’t back down. “This isn’t over,” warned House Spox Atty. Princess Abante. “We’ll keep fighting for the people’s right to demand accountability.”
Mark your calendars—Feb 6, 2026. The impeachment storm could be back.
