A Filipino national is among five suspects rounded up in a sweeping crackdown by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement targeting some of the most dangerous undocumented criminals across the United States.

Authorities said all those arrested are convicted offenders linked to heinous crimes, including murder, sexual offenses involving a minor, and attempted murder, raising serious public safety concerns.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security identified the Filipino as 20-year-old Phil John Yumang, who was convicted of two counts of attempted murder and battery with the use of a deadly weapon.

Court records show the case stems from a violent stabbing incident in Las Vegas, Nevada, in February last year. Yumang allegedly attacked his roommates following a dispute, leaving victims seriously injured. One victim sustained multiple stab wounds, while another an elderly man who tried to intervene was also wounded.

Yumang was initially arrested by local police but was later released on bail and placed under strict electronic monitoring while awaiting court proceedings.

After a Nevada court handed down its ruling, ICE agents moved in and re-arrested him. He is now in federal custody and facing deportation proceedings.

Officials said the nationwide operation also resulted in the arrest of convicted undocumented criminals from Mexico, Cambodia, Guatemala, and Nicaragua.

Data from DHS show that at least 58 Filipinos are among those labeled as the “worst of the worst” undocumented individuals arrested across the United States, highlighting the scale of the ongoing crackdown.
