U.S. national arrested in Pasay for alleged violation of Anti-VAWC law

A 69-year-old American national was arrested by police in Pasay City after authorities served a court-issued warrant in connection with an alleged violation of the Philippines’ Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act.

The suspect was arrested on September 17, 2026, at a residential complex along Seaside Boulevard in the Mall of Asia Complex, according to the Philippine National Police.

The warrant was issued three days earlier, on September 14, by the Pasay City Regional Trial Court, Branch 109, for an alleged violation of Republic Act No. 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004.

The court recommended ₱24,000 bail.

Personnel from Pasay City Police Sub-Station 10 carried out the operation in coordination with the station’s Warrant and Subpoena Section.

Following his arrest, the American national is expected to be turned over to the proper court for further legal proceedings.

PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said nationality does not affect how police enforce a valid court order.

“Whether the person is a Filipino or a foreign national, a court-issued warrant deserves the same proper and lawful action,” Nartatez said.

He added that police are tasked with serving the warrant while observing established procedures and respecting the rights of the accused.

The PNP stressed that the arrest was based on a court-issued warrant and that the accused remains entitled to due process as the case moves through the judicial system.

Authorities have not publicly disclosed the name of the American national or additional details surrounding the allegations.
