Philippine Independence Day Council, Inc. of New York Celebrates 128th Philippine Independence Day with Grand Festivities in NYC

New York, NY - The Philippine Independence Day Council, Inc. (PIDCI) proudly commemorates the 128th in Anniversary of Philippine Independence with what is recognized as the largest Philippine Independence Day celebration outside the Philippines on June 7th 2026. This year’s festivities officially kicked off with a vibrant Meet and Greet event featuring distinguished guest celebrities and delegates from the Philippines, all united in promoting Philippine tourism and cultural pride.
Among the notable attendees was actress and television personality Ruffa Gutierrez, who expressed her enthusiasm about participating in the iconic parade. “I’m very excited to participate in the Philippine Independence Day Parade here in New York City. As I’ve heard, it’s very huge everyone is talking about it. The atmosphere in NYC is very bustling right now, and I’m honored to be part of the festivities,” she shared.
Cultural groups from the Philippines also traveled to New York to take part in the celebration, showcasing traditional Filipino dances and heritage. Representatives from San Juan, Batangas proudly highlighted their artistry and community spirit. “Kami po, with my team, ay very proud na nakarating dito sa NYC to celebrate the biggest Philippine Independence Day celebration outside the Philippines. Isa po kami na magsho-showcase ng aming sayaw, kaya very proud kami together with the people of San Juan, Batangas, according to Mayor Ildebrando Salud of San Juan.

Adding to the significance of this year’s celebration, the event’s Grand Marshals Sally Nunez, Maria Lea Batomalaque, and Florida Lucas shared their pride and gratitude. “We are very happy to be the Grand Marshals of this event. Sustaining our culture and sharing it with the diverse people of New York City is truly something to be proud of,” they remarked.
In a historic first, the celebration expanded its reach to the world-renowned Times Square, marking a milestone moment as it also celebrates the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the United States and the Philippines. This expansion symbolizes the enduring friendship and strong cultural ties between the two nations.
