The Philippine Embassy has issued a strong warning to the public after receiving multiple reports of fraudulent phone calls from individuals falsely claiming to represent the Embassy.

According to the advisory, the scammers are using caller ID spoofing techniques to make their phone numbers appear as if the calls are coming from the Embassy.

Victims have reported being falsely accused of involvement in legal cases in the Philippines, followed by threats and pressure to provide personal information or comply with bogus demands.

“The Embassy does not contact individuals in this manner, issue threats, or require immediate appearances by phone,” officials clarified, stressing that such calls are entirely fraudulent.

The Embassy emphasized that it will never solicit personal, legal, or financial information through unsolicited phone calls. It also urged the Filipino community and the general public to exercise caution and avoid sharing sensitive information with unknown callers.

Victims or those who receive suspicious calls are advised to immediately report the incidents to the Philippine Embassythrough consular@phembassy-us.org, and to the Federal Bureau of Investigation Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) at www.ic3.gov.

The Embassy called on the community to remain vigilant and share the advisory widely to help prevent others from falling victim to this scam.
