PHILIPPINES - A male passenger arriving from the United States was arrested at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 after immigration officers discovered that he was the subject of multiple outstanding warrants of arrestduring routine screening.
After confirming the court-issued warrants, personnel from the Bureau of Immigration turned the passenger over to the PNP Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP) NAIA Police Station 3, where the warrants were formally served.
The suspect is facing one count of estafa under Article 315(2)(a) of the Revised Penal Code, with a recommended bail of ₱114,000, as well as five counts of violating the Food and Drug Administration Act of 2009 (Republic Act No. 9711), carrying a total fixed bail of ₱120,000.
The accused remains in the custody of NAIA Police Station 3 while documentation and other legal procedures are completed before the warrants are returned to the issuing courts.
PNP AVSEGROUP Director PBGen. Dionisio B. Bartolome Jr. said Philippine airports will not serve as a safe haven for individuals attempting to evade justice.
“Our airports will not become a refuge for those trying to escape accountability. The PNP AVSEGROUP, together with airport authorities and local units, will ensure that anyone with an outstanding warrant of arrest is brought before the proper legal process,” Bartolome said.
