NEW YORK - The Filipino American Democratic Club of New York (FADCNY) is marking a major milestone after its endorsed candidates secured key victories in the 2025 Democratic Primary elections. Among the most notable outcomes is the strong lead held by Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani, who is now widely seen as the presumptive Democratic nominee for Mayor of New York City.
Mamdani’s campaign saw widespread support across all boroughs, particularly in diverse immigrant and working-class communities. In areas like Woodside, Queens, which is home to Little Manila and the city’s largest Filipino American population, voter turnout was notably high. His decisive performance underscores the growing influence of Asian American voters, now the fastest-growing demographic in New York City.
In addition to Mamdani, several FADCNY-endorsed candidates won their respective races, further solidifying the club’s presence in local politics. Victorious candidates include:
Mark Levine, New York City Comptroller
Eve Cho Guillergan, Civil Court Judge, Queens Municipal Court District 2
Harvey Epstein, NYC Council, District 2
Linda Lee, NYC Council, District 23
Shekar Krishnan, NYC Council, District 25
Lynn Schulman, NYC Council, District 29
Sheridan C. Chu, Civil Court Judge, Queens County
These electoral wins come after a sustained period of grassroots mobilization by FADCNY. The club organized voter engagement efforts citywide, including its Second Annual Summer Sosyal, held at the Filipino American woman-owned restaurant Piggyback by Pig & Khao. The event drew participation from several elected officials and community leaders.
In the lead-up to the primary, FADCNY members were active at campaign events, including a Queens rally in support of Mark Levine and a club-wide Day of Action during early voting. Volunteers were deployed to poll sites across Queens and Manhattan to support endorsed candidates and increase voter turnout.
Following these primary victories, FADCNY is turning its focus toward the general election. The organization continues to advocate for greater Filipino American representation, equitable access to public resources, and stronger language access policies in city government. These primary results reflect a growing momentum that FADCNY intends to carry forward into November and beyond.
