ANTIQUE, PHILIPPINES — A late-night visit turned into a blood-soaked nightmare when a 52-year-old man fatally stabbed his ex-girlfriend in the neck after she refused to rekindle their romance.
Authorities in the small town of Bugasong say the suspect, identified only as “Dante,” a local fish vendor, showed up at his former lover’s home at about 1 a.m. Friday. Neighbors reported hearing him plead with the 38-year-old woman to give their relationship another chance. When she refused, his pleas escalated into threats.
Investigators say Dante warned the woman not to get involved with another man, threatening dire consequences if she did. The heated argument quickly spiraled out of control. In a shocking turn, Dante allegedly pulled out a knife he had been carrying and plunged it into her neck, killing her instantly.
The horrifying attack left the victim lifeless on the floor as her neighbors, drawn by the noise, rushed to the scene too late to help. Police say the murder weapon was left behind as Dante fled into the night.
The savage killing has stunned the tight-knit community of Barangay Igbalangao. Locals described the victim as quiet and hardworking, while others said Dante had a history of jealousy and volatile behavior.
Authorities have launched a manhunt for the suspect, vowing to bring him to justice. “This was a senseless act of violence fueled by rage and jealousy,” investigators said. “We will not stop until he is caught.”
