Filipino pride was in full display in New York City as YAMAN officially launched at the elegant Peterson House, bringing together art, fashion, food, and the vibrant spirit of the Filipino community. From the Tagalog word meaning “treasure,” YAMAN is not just an event—it’s a celebration of who we are, where we come from, and where we’re going as a people.
Organized by Friends of the Philippines Society USA, the event gathered notable personalities including Guam Senator Shelly Calvo, former Philippine Ambassador Mario de Leon and his wife Eleanor de Leon, global Filipino icon Atty. Loida Lewis, and leaders from the Filipino American community.
It wasn’t just a glitzy gathering—it was a movement. As co-founder Jerry Sibal shared, “YAMAN is about celebrating our roots and investing in our people.” And that’s exactly what the event delivered—highlighting the creativity and craftsmanship of Filipino artisans from across the Philippines and around the world.
From intricately woven textiles by indigenous communities to modern Filipino couture, from heirloom jewelry to flavorful Filipino dishes served with a side of culinary storytelling—YAMAN brought to life the stories of our people, past and present.
But it doesn’t stop at just admiring culture—it’s also about empowering. Co-founder Edwin Josue added, “We’re creating a global platform for Filipino talent. We want the world to see the beauty and brilliance of Filipino creativity.”
So what can Pinoys and Fil-Am families look forward to? Plenty:
Fashion runways blending tradition with modern style
Live demos from artisans showing off their time-honored crafts
Tasting sessions of regional Filipino dishes (yes, lechon included!)
Music and dance to get you swaying to familiar rhythms
Conversations with changemakers who are reshaping Filipino identity around the world
This isn’t your typical Filipino festival. It’s about building bridges—between generations, between local artisans and global markets, between Filipino Americans and their heritage.

And here’s the exciting part: the grand cultural showcase of YAMAN will happen at Marriott Marquis Times Squarefrom October 31 to November 2, 2025—just in time for Filipino American History Month.
So whether you’re a Fil-Am rediscovering your roots, a curious foodie, a fashionista, or just someone who loves a good celebration—YAMAN is for you.
Mark your calendars, mga kababayan. Let’s celebrate what makes us Filipino. Let’s celebrate our YAMAN.
