WAVE OF VIOLENCE HITS CALABARZON: Daylight Killings Reported in Cavite and Quezon

Two brutal killings in the provinces of Cavite and Quezon have left communities in shock and heightened fears over public safety, as both victims were gunned down in broad daylight by unidentified assailants.

In Brgy. Bagtas, Tanza, Cavite, barangay councilor Christopher Aron, 42, was ambushed while inside his vehicle. He was shot four times, with a bullet striking his neck—ultimately leading to his death two hours later at a nearby hospital. Authorities confirmed that the victim had no known personal or political enemies. No suspects have been identified, and the investigation is ongoing.

Meanwhile, in a separate but equally disturbing incident, a 49-year-old woman named Anna was killed inside her own home in Sitio Gitna, Brgy. Ilayang Nangka, Tayabas City, Quezon. While cooking lunch in the kitchen, an armed man dressed in a black long-sleeve shirt and helmet entered through an open door and opened fire without warning. The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead upon arrival at the Tayabas Community Hospital.

The assailant fled the scene on an unmarked motorcycle before authorities could respond. Police are now reviewing CCTV footage and collecting witness accounts to establish the motive and identify the suspect.

The back-to-back killings have alarmed residents and intensified calls for stronger security measures and a swift resolution to both cases. Law enforcement agencies in both provinces continue to appeal to the public for any information that could assist in the investigations.
