
U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Michael Rigas to Visit Philippines to Strengthen Indo-Pacific Engagement

WASHINGTON D.C. - Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Michael Rigas is set to embark on an official visit to Seoul, South Korea, and Manila, Philippines. The visit aims to bolster the Department of State’s operational capacity and deepen diplomatic engagement in the Indo-Pacific region.
During his multi-day trip, Deputy Secretary Rigas will meet with senior government officials and U.S. embassy staff to assess ongoing initiatives and explore new opportunities for collaboration. His engagements are expected to cover a wide range of issues, including regional security, infrastructure, economic resilience, and consular operations.
“The Deputy Secretary’s travel reflects the United States’ unwavering commitment to a free, open, and secure Indo-Pacific,” the Department of State said in a statement. “It builds on the Administration’s strategic efforts to advance the interests of the American people while reinforcing alliances and partnerships across the region.”
This visit follows a series of high-level U.S. diplomatic missions aimed at countering regional challenges and enhancing cooperation with key allies in Asia. In both Seoul and Manila, Deputy Secretary Rigas is expected to reaffirm support for shared democratic values, economic growth, and regional peace and stability.
