Man Sentenced After Secret Recordings Found in Restaurant Restroom

A former restaurant employee has been sentenced to 179 days behind bars in a disturbing hidden-camera case involving adults and children who were secretly recorded inside a Virginia restaurant restroom.

Joshua Hombrebueno, 20, of Oxon Hill, Maryland, was employed at Gustave Boulangerie & Brasserie in Alexandria’s Del Ray neighborhood when the secret recordings were discovered.

The case came to light on Sept. 20, 2025, after a mother and her 3-year-old daughter found an active iPhone hidden inside a bathroom vanity.

Police later recovered recordings showing multiple adults and children who had allegedly been filmed without their knowledge while using the restroom.

Hombrebueno was initially charged with three felony counts and nine misdemeanor counts of unlawful creation of an image of another.

He was ultimately found guilty of two misdemeanor counts involving adult victims. A judge sentenced him to 179 days in jail on one count, while another 179-day sentence was suspended.

The case involving a minor brought additional consequences. Hombrebueno received a five-year suspended sentence and five years of probation and was ordered to comply with sex-offender registration requirements.

He was also barred from returning to the restaurant.

Under the court arrangement, the charge involving the minor could later be reduced to a misdemeanor if Hombrebueno successfully completes the terms of his probation.

The restaurant suspended Hombrebueno following his arrest and later terminated his employment.
