The U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey has rescheduled the sentencing hearing for Alexander Baldonado following his conviction on multiple federal charges related to health care fraud. The hearing is now set for September 30, 2025 before Judge Susan D. Wigenton at the Newark federal courthouse.

Baldonado was convicted on charges including conspiracy to commit health care fraud, health care fraud, solicitation of health care kickbacks, and conspiracy to defraud the United States. Each fraud and kickback charge carries a maximum prison term of 10 years, while the conspiracy charges could result in up to five years imprisonment.

Investigators said Baldonado played a central role in a scheme that involved billing government-funded health care programs for unnecessary medical services. The operation also involved accepting illegal kickbacks in exchange for patient referrals, resulting in significant financial losses to these programs.

The case followed a lengthy federal investigation aimed at rooting out fraud within the health care system. Authorities emphasized that the scheme deliberately targeted vulnerable government programs, diverting resources away from legitimate medical care providers and patients.

The rescheduled sentencing hearing will determine the penalties Baldonado will face as a result of his conviction.
