House Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte Rep. Sandro Marcos urged Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Elizaldy Co to return to the country and face the allegations against him.
“I’ll be the first one to tell you that he should come home and face any and all allegations against him,” Marcos said in an interview.
When asked if the House could compel Co to return, Marcos replied, “I do not know if that is something we can do as a body, but again I think he should come home and face the allegations against him, it’s too severe and it’s dragging the House in the mud.”
In response to another question, Marcos said that Co could face an ethics case if he refuses to come home.
“It might be. I mean, there is a precedent for it, Cong. Arnie Teves did the same,” the lawmaker said.
Marcos was referring to former Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo Teves Jr., who was initially suspended and later expelled after refusing to return to the country despite the expiration of the travel authority granted to him by the House.
