San Diego Jury Convicts Filipino Husband of Wife's Murder

A jury has found Larry Millete, 44, guilty of first-degree murder in the killing of his Filipina wife, Maya "May" Millete, who disappeared in January 2021 in San Diego, California.

May, a civilian employee of the United States Navy, has never been found.

Prosecutors said Larry killed his wife inside their home after she asked for a divorce and later disposed of her body in an unknown location.

During the trial, prosecutors also revealed that Larry sought the help of a spell caster in an attempt to make May fall in love with him again. Investigators also presented evidence linking him to poison hemlock, a highly toxic plant believed to be a possible murder weapon.

The defense argued that Larry's actions were driven by severe depression and his belief that May was having an affair.

After six weeks of testimony and five hours of jury deliberations, Larry was convicted of first-degree murder. A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled.
