A 42-year-old man arriving from Seattle, United States, was arrested at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 on October 18 after authorities confirmed he had an outstanding arrest warrant.

Joint personnel of the PNP Aviation Security Group (AVSEGROUP) and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) apprehended the passenger following coordination between NAIA Police Station 1 and CIDG Regional Field Unit 4A.

The warrant was issued by the Regional Trial Court in Rosario, Batangas, for an alleged violation of Republic Act No. 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004.

Authorities did not disclose the man’s name or details of the alleged offense.

Police said he was informed of the charge and his constitutional rights in a language he understood before being turned over to CIDG CALABARZON for processing.

AVSEGROUP Director Brig. Gen. Dionisio B. Bartolome Jr. said the unit continues coordinating with other law enforcement agencies to arrest individuals with outstanding warrants and bring them before the courts.

The allegation against the passenger remains subject to court proceedings.
