
Philippine Airlines Expands U.S. Routes, Modernizes Fleet with Focus on Sustainability

New York City – Philippine Airlines (PAL) is reinforcing its global footprint with the launch of new U.S. routes, a significant investment in next-generation aircraft, and a strengthened commitment to sustainable aviation.
The country’s flag carrier reported a strong financial performance in the first quarter of 2025, posting a net income of ₱3.9 billion. The result marks a continued post-pandemic recovery and sets the stage for PAL’s long-term growth strategy.
Seattle-Manila Nonstop Flights Launched
In a bid to expand its North American network, PAL has introduced a new nonstop service between Seattle and Manila. The Seattle route adds to the airline’s existing U.S. destinations, offering more convenient travel options for Filipinos and other international passengers traveling between North America and Asia.
Fleet Expansion: 22 New Aircraft by 2029
To meet rising passenger demand and improve operational efficiency, PAL has committed to acquiring 22 new aircraft between 2025 and 2029. The fleet upgrade includes nine Airbus A350-1000 aircraft for long-haul routes and thirteen Airbus A321neo aircraft for regional and domestic services.
The new aircraft are designed for fuel efficiency and enhanced performance, aligning with PAL’s broader environmental objectives.
More Regional Flights via Clark and Cebu
The airline is also investing in regional connectivity by expanding its operations at the Clark and Cebu hubs. New routes include:
Cebu to Osaka
Clark to Siargao
Clark to Cebu
Clark to Basco
These routes aim to improve access to key destinations across the Philippines and the Asia-Pacific region, while also boosting tourism and regional development.
Next-Generation Cabin Enhancements
Passengers can expect an upgraded in-flight experience with the introduction of the Airbus A350-1000. The new aircraft will feature modern interiors across all cabin classes.
Business Class will include full-flat beds with privacy suite doors, wireless and USB charging options, and ultra-high-definition 4K entertainment screens.Premium Economy will offer more legroom, comprehensive charging options, and 4K inflight entertainment.Economy Class passengers will benefit from device stands, USB-A and USB-C charging ports, and personal 4K screens.
Sustainability at the Core
As part of its environmental strategy, PAL is incorporating a range of initiatives aimed at reducing its carbon footprint. These include the use of fuel-efficient aircraft, improved flight operations to cut emissions, and exploring the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Company officials say these initiatives reflect PAL’s commitment to balancing business growth with environmental responsibility.
