As the United States raised its travel warning to Level 4: Do Not Travel for Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza, the Philippine government is allowing Filipinos in affected areas to decide for themselves whether to stay or avail of voluntary repatriation.
The U.S. State Department’s heightened alert was issued due to escalating violence, armed conflict, and terrorism risks in the region. The advisory applies not only to Gaza, where Israeli military operations have intensified, but also to parts of Israel and the West Bank, where tensions remain high.
Unlike the mandatory evacuation of U.S. personnel and families, the Philippines is implementing a voluntary repatriation program. Filipinos who feel unsafe may coordinate with the nearest Philippine diplomatic post for assistance in returning home.
There are an estimated 30,000 Filipinos in Israel, many working as caregivers, domestic workers, and hotel staff. Filipino communities in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and surrounding areas have been advised to remain vigilant and stay in close contact with Philippine authorities for guidance on safety protocols.
The Philippine embassies in Israel and nearby countries are prepared to arrange repatriation flights if demand increases. Meanwhile, embassy officials continue to issue regular security updates to Filipinos on the ground.
While the global community raises alarm over the deteriorating situation, the Philippine government maintains that it will support any Filipino who opts to return, while respecting the decisions of those who choose to remain in their workplaces or with their families abroad.
