HONOLULU, Hawaii — Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) has formalized a partnership with the East-West Center (EWC) to strengthen academic collaboration and people-to-people exchanges, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
The signing ceremony, held at the East-West Center in Honolulu, was witnessed by Philippine Consul General Arman Talbo. Signing on behalf of MMSU was its President, Dr. Virgilio Julius P. Manzano Jr., while EWC was represented by its Interim President, Dr. James K. Scott.
Also present were EWC Executive Administrative Officer Zachary Espino, and MMSU Professors Jeanette Dials and Krismary Agbigay.
The partnership aims to enhance educational exchanges between the two institutions, promoting international cooperation in research and academic development. Key activities under the MOU include faculty, research scholar, and student visits, as well as the sharing of educational resources, such as research outputs, teaching materials, and publications.
MMSU and EWC will also collaborate in organizing seminars, workshops, and conferences while supporting the development of various academic programs and curricula.
Dr. Manzano emphasized that the partnership aligns with MMSU’s internationalization goals, allowing the university to build stronger linkages with global institutions.
The collaboration is expected to provide more opportunities for MMSU faculty and students to engage in global academic discourse, research initiatives, and leadership programs.
The East-West Center, based in Honolulu, has long been at the forefront of fostering understanding and collaboration among nations in the Asia-Pacific region, with education as a key pillar of its mission.
