A horrifying scandal has rocked Phoenix after a 31-year-old man was accused of breaking into the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office and sexually abusing multiple corpses inside the facility.

Authorities identified the suspect as Fenris Lu, who allegedly used a crowbar to force his way into the building before carrying out the disturbing acts during the early hours of May 20.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, surveillance cameras allegedly captured Lu breaking the seals of 11 body bags and having sexual contact with at least four dead bodies.

Deputies responded to a 911 burglary call around 1:33 a.m. and later found Lu inside the medical examiner’s office. He was arrested without incident with assistance from county security personnel and the Phoenix Police Department.

The shocking case forced officials to temporarily suspend forensic testing, autopsies, and organ donation procedures while investigators determine whether any criminal evidence linked to the bodies may have been contaminated or compromised.

During a court hearing, prosecutors said authorities needed more time to notify the families of the deceased and investigate possible impacts on other criminal cases connected to the victims.

Lu is now facing multiple felony charges, including burglary, escape, and four counts of sexual conduct with a dead body. Prosecutors described him as a potential danger to himself and others.

A judge set Lu’s cash bond at $500,000 with electronic monitoring if he is released pending trial. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 29.

Authorities have not released the identities or exact number of victims as the investigation continues.
