Dingras, Ilocos Norte — What was supposed to be an ordinary evening turned into a nightmare when a 39-year-old wife was discovered dead, bound, and strangled inside her home in Brgy. Lumbad, Dingras, Ilocos Norte, on August 17.
The gruesome scene shocked even her own family. Police said the victim’s hands were tied with straw, her face forcibly covered, and an elastic bandage cruelly wrapped around her head — a chilling picture of her final moments.
Her relatives, worried after repeated knocks went unanswered, used a duplicate key to enter the house. What they saw inside left them horrified: her lifeless body, scattered belongings, and missing cash and jewelry.
Initial autopsy results confirmed the grim suspicion — the victim died of asphyxia secondary to strangulation. Authorities believe she was mercilessly choked to death before the suspect fled with her valuables.
The victim, known in the neighborhood as a hardworking store vendor living with her partner, is now the subject of a robbery-homicide investigation.
Police vowed to hunt down the perpetrator, as the shocking crime has left the quiet town gripped with fear. Neighbors are demanding swift justice, calling the attack a “barbaric act” that has no place in their community.
