The Philippine Consulate General in Honolulu has issued an urgent evacuation advisory for Filipinos and Filipino Americans in Hawaii following a powerful 8.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Kamchatka, Russia. The earthquake triggered a tsunami warning for several Pacific regions, including the Hawaiian Islands.
Consul General Arman Talbo directed Filipinos residing in low-lying coastal areas to move immediately to higher ground as a safety precaution. The first tsunami wave is expected to arrive in Hawaii at approximately 7:17 p.m. HST on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
Local authorities and emergency response teams remain on high alert, closely monitoring developments and coordinating evacuation efforts.
