SAN RAFAEL, BULACAN — A quiet riverside town has been rocked by a grisly mystery after a headless body was found floating beneath an old bridge in San Rafael, only to be followed by the discovery of a severed head the next day.
The Bulacan Provincial Police Office (PPO) confirmed that the torso was recovered on May 20, drifting under the shadow of the aging structure—a site that has now become the focus of an ongoing investigation. On May 21, the victim’s head was located several meters away, partially concealed beneath bamboo stalks in a murky section of the river in Barangay Salapungan.
The dismembered remains have raised chilling questions in the otherwise peaceful province. Who is the victim? Who would commit such a gruesome act—and why?
Investigators from the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) scoured both locations for clues, while forensic analysts are working to piece together the identity of the man and the possible motive behind his brutal killing.
San Rafael Police Acting Chief Lt. Col. Protom Guevarra has issued a public appeal, urging anyone with missing family members or relevant information to come forward. So far, no one has stepped up to claim the body.
Authorities are now considering several angles—ranging from personal vendetta to possible involvement in criminal activity—but no clear suspects have emerged. The mystery has left residents uneasy, as whispers of fear ripple through nearby barangays.
With no witnesses and few leads, the case remains open, and the river continues to guard its secrets—for now.
