Former presidential spokesperson Atty. Harry Roque revealed that he has received his residence identification card from the Netherlands, amid circulating rumors regarding the status of his asylum application.
In a Facebook post, Roque shared that he received the ID on Wednesday, June 11. According to him, the Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) issued the card as a temporary identity document while his asylum application is under review.
Roque explained that the residence ID grants him access to basic healthcare and insurance services, as well as the ability to open a bank account in the Netherlands. The ID is valid for six months and can be renewed while his application is being processed.
The issuance of the residence card follows allegations online claiming that Roque’s asylum application had been denied—an assertion he strongly denied.
“This serves as legal proof of my identity and residency here in the Netherlands,” Roque said, emphasizing that the process is ongoing and that he has not received any notice of denial from Dutch authorities.
Roque’s move to seek asylum abroad has drawn significant attention, especially considering his previous role as a top legal adviser in the Duterte administration.
As of this writing, Dutch immigration officials have yet to release any official statement regarding Roque’s asylum application.
