
Five Dead, Dozens Injured in Tour Bus Rollover on I-90 in Genesee County

Pembroke, N.Y. — At least five people were killed and dozens more injured after a tour bus carrying 54 passengers overturned on Interstate 90 Friday afternoon, August 22, 2025, in the town of Pembroke, Genesee County.
State Police said troopers from SP Buffalo, Troop T responded at about 12:22 p.m. to the crash, which happened eastbound between exits 48A and 49.
According to investigators, the bus, owned by M&Y Tour Inc., was traveling from Niagara Falls to New York City when it veered into the median. The driver abruptly corrected, causing the bus to overturn and roll down the south embankment. Several passengers were ejected and trapped inside the wreckage.
Five victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Multiple survivors were transported to Erie County Medical Center, Strong Memorial Hospital, Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, and United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. Mercy Flight helicopters and several EMS crews assisted in transporting the injured.
Authorities said the driver showed no signs of impairment, and mechanical failure has been ruled out. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The Philippine Consulate General in New York expressed its sympathies, stating it is keeping in its thoughts and prayers all those impacted by the tragic crash. The Consulate said it is closely monitoring developments and is ready to extend assistance to any Filipino national who may have been affected.

The crash drew a massive emergency response from multiple agencies, including the State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit, Forensic Identification Unit, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, Homeland Security, the NYS Thruway Authority, and county emergency management teams. Numerous fire departments and EMS units from the region also responded.
