NEW YORK - Philippine Consul General Senen T. Mangalile joined members of the consular corps in a diplomatic engagement with the New York Police Department (NYPD), underscoring continued cooperation between law enforcement authorities and the international community in New York City.
The meet-and-greet session, organized by the NYPD in partnership with the Society of Foreign Consuls in New York (SOFCNY), was followed by a guided tour of the NYPD’s Joint Operations Center at One Police Plaza. The visit provided diplomats with an in-depth look at the department’s command, control, and coordination systems, including its real-time monitoring and rapid response capabilities across the city.
In her welcome remarks, NYPD Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence and Counterterrorism Rebecca Weiner emphasized the importance of strengthening ties with the diplomatic corps, noting that the initiative aims to foster closer collaboration and ensure access to NYPD leadership and specialized support units.
SOFCNY President Maia Bartaia, who also serves as Consul General of Georgia, expressed appreciation for the NYPD’s sustained support to the diplomatic community. She reaffirmed the Society’s commitment to further enhancing cooperation with the department.
The engagement concluded with a solemn ceremony at the NYPD Memorial, where members of the diplomatic community offered flowers in honor of fallen officers, paying tribute to their service and sacrifice in the line of duty.
