New York, NY — The spirit of heritage and community lit up Yankee Stadium last Sunday as thousands gathered for the Third Annual Filipino Night, a celebration of culture, unity, and pride woven seamlessly into America’s favorite pastime.

Hosted in partnership with the New York Yankees and Filipino community leaders across the Tri-State area, the event transformed the Bronx ballpark into a vibrant showcase of Filipino American identity. Families, youth groups, and organizations filled the stands, cheering for the Yankees while proudly embracing their heritage.

A highlight of the evening was the release of an exclusive co-branded Yankees bomber jacket, featuring the sun and stars of the Philippine flag discreetly stitched into its lining. Fans wore the limited-edition giveaway with pride, symbolizing both their love for baseball and their deep cultural roots.

The night also recognized distinguished Filipino Americans in healthcare, education, and the arts, honoring their contributions to both the local community and the broader American landscape.

“This was a sold-out celebration,” said Mark Anthony Agbuya, organizer of the New York Yankees Filipino Heritage Weekend. “We proudly cheered on Anthony Volpe — our very own Filipino Yankee — and gave fans what might be the best Filipino Heritage game giveaway ever. We even had guests fly in from California, Canada, Norway, and Hawaii.”

Agbuya, who has organized Filipino Heritage Nights under major league sports teams for more than a decade, explained his mission: “My reason is simple — to give the next generation a way to connect with Filipino culture early in life. At the very least, I hope to help them take that first step in discovering who they are and where they come from.”

Now in its third year, Filipino Night has grown from a grassroots effort into a signature Yankee Stadium tradition, blending sports, culture, and community pride.

Organizers and fans are already looking ahead to next year — determined to make the celebration even bigger, brighter, and more inclusive.
