Albany, New York — The Filipino community in the Capital District is gearing up for one of its most anticipated cultural celebrations—the Filipino Day Grand Parade—set for June 28, 2025, at Washington Park, Albany.
Organized by Kalayaan 1521, the event brings together Filipinos from across Albany and neighboring states to celebrate heritage, culture, and community pride. The annual parade serves as a platform to showcase the richness of Filipino traditions while strengthening unity among Filipino Americans and friends from diverse backgrounds.
The festivities will feature a colorful parade winding through Washington Park, highlighted by participants in vibrant cultural attire, traditional dances, and live musical performances. The parade will be followed by a full day of activities designed to engage families and individuals of all ages.
Attendees can look forward to a wide selection of Filipino food, offering classic favorites like adobo, lumpia, pancit, and halo-halo. Various vendors will also be on hand selling handmade crafts, cultural merchandise, and specialty products. Community organizations will operate booths providing information, outreach programs, and services relevant to the Filipino American community.
Kalayaan 1521, the organizer of the event, draws inspiration from the spirit of Filipino resilience, honoring the legacy of Filipino resistance during the 1521 Battle of Mactan. Through events like this, the group seeks to foster a deeper appreciation of Filipino culture while building strong community ties.
The Filipino Day Grand Parade is free and open to the public.
