NEW YORK CITY — The Filipino American Democratic Club of New York (FADCNY) hosted “Filipino Americans for NYC’s Future” at Kalye Rivington, a Filipino restaurant in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, bringing together elected officials, candidates, and community members to mark Filipino American History Month and strengthen engagement ahead of the 2025 New York City general elections.

Among those in attendance were Council Member Julie Won, Assemblymember Harvey Epstein, State Senator Brian Kavanagh, and dozens of Filipino American community members.

Assemblymember Epstein, one of FADCNY’s endorsed candidates, expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed his commitment to the group’s advocacy. “It’s an honor to celebrate Filipino American History Month with FADCNY and to be recognized among its endorsed slate,” Epstein said. “I look forward to our continued work together to serve our community with heart, advocacy, and a vision for a more just and united city.”

The event also marked a milestone for FADCNY as it unveiled its refreshed branding and reaffirmed its guiding principles. FADCNY President Michelle Amor said the club’s evolution over the past two years made this the right time to solidify its identity and direction. “This was a moment to reflect on why we do this work and how we carry it forward,” Amor shared. “It’s about presenting ourselves with the same clarity and purpose that define the community we represent.”

The club’s new visual identity and merchandise were designed by Paulo Tonn, who said his design drew inspiration from iconic New York elements. “For Fil Am Dems’ new identity, we took cues from classic New York symbols and landmarks,” he explained. “The torch icon composed with the Grand Central typeface shows respect for the city we love.”

The evening was made possible through the support of Dear Flor, a Filipina-owned business inspired by Filipino flavors and culture, which served as the event’s Advocate Sponsor. Dear Flor Co-Founder and CEO Lisa Reid shared the company’s story and its mission to uplift Filipino creativity and entrepreneurship.

Proceeds from the gathering will help advance Filipino American visibility and participation in New York politics, with a portion supporting FADCNY’s 2025 endorsed candidates. Founding member Adam Lee, who also serves on the executive board of the Latino Democrats of NYC, lauded the club’s continued expansion. “It’s amazing how the club continues to grow in its mission by bringing those of Filipino heritage and influence together to engage with elected officials, campaigns, and organizations,” Lee said.

Looking ahead, FADCNY will hold a Day of Action for Eve Cho Guillergan on November 2—the final day of early voting—to support her bid to become the first Filipina judge in New York City. The club will also announce photo bank sessions for newly endorsed candidates Juleigh Chin (Nassau County Legislator, District 9) and Ben Chou(NYC Council, District 19), while continuing collaboration with Filipinos for Zohran to build collective power before Election Day.

Together, these efforts underscore FADCNY’s commitment to strengthening Filipino American representation and political influence across New York.
