The Filipino American Democratic Club of New York (FADCNY) has announced its first slate of political endorsements, marking a historic step toward increasing Filipino American representation in New York City politics.

The historic slate includes candidates who reflect the diversity, priorities, and progressive values of Filipino Americans in New York City — from immigrant rights and language access to public safety, affordable housing, labor protections, healthcare, education, and support for small businesses.

“This slate marks a major turning point for Filipinos in New York,” said Assemblymember Steven Raga, the first Filipino American elected to New York State office and a founding member of FADCNY. “Releasing this first-ever slate of endorsements shows that the community isn’t just showing up — it’s building lasting infrastructure to influence decisions, support candidates, and elevate Filipino American voices at every level.”

FADCNY’s 2025 Endorsed Candidates Include:

  • Zohran Mamdani, New York City Mayor

  • Zellnor Myrie, New York City Mayor

  • Mark Levine, New York City Comptroller

  • Keith Powers, Manhattan Borough President

  • Eve Cho Guillergan, Civil Court Judge, Queens Municipal Court District 2

  • Harvey Epstein, City Council, District 2

  • Erycka Montoya, City Council, District 21

  • Linda Lee, City Council, District 23

  • Shekar Krishnan, City Council, District 25

  • Lynn Schulman, City Council, District 29

  • Dermot Smyth, City Council, District 30

These candidates include long-standing allies of the Filipino community, champions of labor and tenants’ rights, and leaders advocating for healthcare equity, education access, and inclusive public services. Many have collaborated with Filipino American organizations on events, hired Filipino staffers, and supported legislation that directly benefits the community.

“We’re doing everything we can to increase Filipino American visibility in New York City,” said Michelle Amor, President of FADCNY. “This slate of endorsements reflects that mission — backing candidates who not only share our values but have demonstrated real commitment to uplifting the Filipino American community.”

Notably, 100% of the endorsed candidates have pledged to support expanded Filipino language translation services in city agencies and advocate for equitable city budget allocations for Filipino Americans.

The endorsements follow a rigorous process that included an open application, candidate interviews, and review by FADCNY’s member-led Endorsement Committee. Final selections were confirmed through a democratic vote by the full membership.

The move builds on recent gains in Filipino American civic engagement, from the historic 2022 election of Assemblymember Raga to organizing efforts during the 2024 presidential campaign and sustained advocacy at the state and local levels. Last month, FADCNY was honored by the New York State Democratic Party AAPI Caucus for its leadership during AAPI Heritage Month.

As FADCNY continues its mission to empower the Filipino American electorate, this slate of endorsements represents not just a political milestone — but a powerful declaration of the community’s visibility, values, and voice in shaping New York City’s future.
