Father of missing Fil-Am mother’s son taken into custody as search intensifies

A new development has emerged in the disappearance of 53-year-old Filipino-American mother Antoinette Forbes, after officials confirmed that a man with the same name and date of birth as the father of her 10-year-old son was taken into custody in Beaver County, Pennsylvania.
The development comes more than a week after Forbes disappeared from Northwest Washington, triggering an increasingly intensive police investigation.
However, authorities stressed an important distinction: D.C. police have not publicly identified the man in Pennsylvania as a suspect or person of interest in Forbes’ disappearance, and they have not said that his arrest is connected to the missing-person case. The reason for his Pennsylvania detention has not been publicly tied to Forbes’ disappearance.
Forbes was last seen on Sept. 4 in the 3200 block of Nebraska Avenue NW, near American University. Her family remained in contact with her the following day before communications abruptly stopped.
Concern escalated after a friend went to Forbes’ home and discovered that her phones, keys, wallet and purse were still inside. Her car remained outside the residence, while her dog, Max, was found alone inside the house.
Investigators have since spent hours inside the property, photographed areas of the home and spoken with neighbors as they attempt to determine what happened to Forbes. Police have not publicly disclosed whether evidence or new leads were recovered from the residence.
Forbes’ family has repeatedly said her disappearance is completely out of character. She is the mother of a 10-year-old boy, whom relatives describe as the center of her life.
Despite the Pennsylvania development, no one has been arrested or charged in connection with Forbes’ disappearance, and D.C. police have not publicly confirmed that foul play occurred.
Forbes is described as about 5 feet 2 inches tall and 115 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information is urged to contact D.C. police at 202-727-9099 or text 50411.
Status: Forbes remains missing. The Pennsylvania custody development is confirmed, but any connection between that arrest and her disappearance has not been established publicly.
