A construction mogul dropped a political bombshell at Congress yesterday—admitting he poured a whopping ₱30 million into Senator Chiz Escudero’s 2022 campaign!

Lawrence Lubiano, president of Centerways Construction, made the stunning confession under fire from lawmakers grilling him about his company’s flood control bonanza.

Records show Centerways bagged over 50 government contracts between 2022 and 2025—most in Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Cebu, and Masbate. No small fry either: the firm ranked 7th among the Top 15 flood project contractors revealed by President Bongbong Marcos himself.

When pressed, Lubiano didn’t flinch: “Yes, I personally gave ₱30 million to Chiz. It was my money—not the company’s.”

Adding fuel to the fire, two of Lubiano’s siblings are politicians in Sorsogon City, raising eyebrows about political ties greasing big-ticket deals.

Meanwhile, another official landed in the hot seat—Bulacan District Engineer Henry Alcantara. Critics slammed him for allegedly signing off on ghost and substandard projects. Rep. Bienvenido Abante Jr. didn’t mince words: “You should face charges for negligence!”

President Marcos recently inspected flood projects in Bulacan and found one falsely reported as “finished” and two others below standard—further fanning the corruption firestorm.

With billions at stake and campaign cash trails exposed, the scandal is shaping up as one of the biggest political storms of 2025.
