
Consulate Welcomes Court Decision Supporting Filipino National’s Rights

San Francisco, CA — The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco actively participated in a significant legal proceeding in Tacoma, Washington, on May 29, 2025, demonstrating its commitment to safeguarding the rights and welfare of Filipino nationals abroad.
The consulate was present during the hearing concerning Ms. Lewelyn Dixon, a Filipino citizen facing removal proceedings. Its presence aimed to provide appropriate assistance and ensure her rights were protected throughout the legal process.
Following the court's decision, which granted Ms. Dixon’s petition for cancellation of removal and ordered her release, the consulate expressed its satisfaction with the outcome.
In a statement, the Consulate welcomed the court’s ruling and joined Ms. Dixon’s family and friends in celebrating the positive resolution. Representatives of the consulate also had a private meeting with Ms. Dixon after the hearing, during which they delivered welfare assistance approved by the Department of Foreign Affairs.
The Philippine Consulate reiterated its unwavering commitment to support all Filipino nationals under its jurisdiction. It emphasized its adherence to the principles outlined in the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations and other international agreements, underscoring its responsibility to respect the laws and regulations of the host country while fulfilling its duties.
