A 35-year-old American citizen was shot and killed during a robbery in the town of Teresa, Rizal province, east of Manila, on Friday, July 10, after reportedly trying to escape two motorcycle-riding assailants.
According to the Teresa Municipal Police Station, the victim was walking in Barangay San Roque, a village in Teresa, when he was confronted by the suspects.
Police said CCTV footage showed the victim attempting to flee before the attackers caught up with him. As he tried to remove and hide his jewelry to keep it from being stolen, one of the suspects got off the motorcycle and shot him at close range.
The victim suffered gunshot wounds to the shoulder and head and died at the scene, police said. The assailants then took his personal belongings and fled on a black Honda PCX scooter.
Investigators described the driver as wearing a black helmet, blue raincoat, blue pants, and slippers, while the gunman was wearing a gray helmet, black raincoat, gray-and-black pants, and slippers.
Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and conducting a manhunt to identify and arrest the suspects. The motive is believed to have been robbery, and the investigation remains ongoing.
