Quezon City, Philippines — In a gruesome discovery, a woman’s decomposing body was found inside a sack dumped at a garbage site in Barangay Payatas A, Quezon City, on Wednesday morning, May 14.
According to a report from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), garbage collectors stumbled upon the corpse at around 8:00 a.m. near the corner of Beatriz and San Lorenzo Streets.
The victim, believed to be between 5’1” to 5’2” in height, had a silver ring on the middle finger of her left hand and was reportedly not wearing any lower garments, raising suspicions of possible foul play.
Investigator PSSgt. Angel T. Pascasio III stated that garbage collectors identified by the aliases “Piang” and “Dumapias” were in the process of transferring collected trash into a dump truck when their helper, known only as “Jimmy”, noticed what appeared to be a human hand and foot protruding from one of the sacks.
The team immediately contacted authorities. Responding officers from the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) Forensic Unit confirmed that the body was already in an advanced state of decomposition.
The police have yet to determine the identity of the victim and the exact cause of death. Investigators are looking into all possible angles, including whether the woman was murdered before her body was discarded.
Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
