Filipino excellence takes center stage as a law team from the University of San Agustin (USA) clinched the world championship in a prestigious international moot court competition held at the University of Oxford in England.

The University of San Agustin-College of Law (USA-COL) confirmed that its Bulahan Price Team emerged as the top contender in the 2026 Monroe E. Price Media Law Moot Court Competition, defeating teams from around the world in a contest focused on human rights and freedom of expression.

The competition was held at the Oxford Bonavero Institute of Human Rights from April 13 to 16.

The victory marks a historic milestone for the university, securing its first-ever world championship and reinforcing its standing in global media and human rights law advocacy.

The winning team was led by captain and oralist Marco Giorgione Dava, alongside oralist Gie Ann Marie Aloro. The team’s research was handled by Kenverly Kirch Duran and Zynnie Zaragos, with lawyer Anfred Panes serving as coach.

Dava also earned individual recognition as the 10th best oralist in the preliminary rounds, adding to his earlier achievement as 5th best oralist during the Asia-Pacific rounds in January.

The team acknowledged the support of university leadership, including President Fr. Arnel Dizon and USA-COL Dean Atty. Jose Mari Tirol, in their journey to the global stage.

The win highlights the growing presence of Filipino law students in international competitions, as another USA-COL team also competed in the global rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in Washington, D.C.

From Iloilo to Oxford, the triumph underscores the rising impact of Filipino talent on the world stage.
