“Too Much Drama, Not Enough Brains!” — Palace Official Claps Back at VP Sara Duterte

Tension is heating up within the ranks of government as Palace Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro fired back at Vice President Sara Duterte, who earlier branded some administration officials as “stupid.”

In a sharp and unapologetic response, Castro said Duterte’s outburst seemed more emotional than intelligent.

“Emotion is high, intelligence is low,” Castro quipped during a press briefing, throwing shade at the Vice President’s controversial remarks.

The fiery exchange stems from Duterte’s criticism of the administration's recent policies and public moves, where she reportedly called certain officials “bobo” — a Filipino term for “stupid.” The comment drew flak, not only from the Palace but also from some political allies who viewed it as divisive and unnecessary.

Castro, known for her firm stance in defending Malacañang, reminded the Vice President that her father, former President Rodrigo Duterte, also engaged in similar public spectacles during his term — often participating in “photo ops” during the destruction of illegal drugs, something President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. recently did in Tarlac.

“Before pointing fingers, maybe she should reflect on how the previous administration handled similar situations,”Castro added.

The verbal clash highlights ongoing friction between the camps of Marcos and Duterte, with political observers speculating deeper rifts ahead of the 2025 midterm elections.

As of press time, the Office of the Vice President has yet to issue a response to Castro’s remarks.
