Malolos City, Bulacan — A student-led protest disrupted a press conference organized by candidates of the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas inside the campus of Bulacan State University (BulSU).
The protest, which took place outside the E-Library Building, lasted approximately 15 minutes. Students expressed their disapproval of what they perceived as political intrusion into their academic space. They carried placards and banners emphasizing that educational institutions should remain neutral grounds, free from partisan activity.
The press conference was attended by prominent political figures, including former Senators Panfilo Lacson and Vicente Sotto, ACT-CIS party-list Representative Erwin Tulfo, and Makati Mayor Abby Binay. The event was part of a broader campaign tour, although the candidates clarified that the main rally was held at the nearby Bulacan Sports Complex.
Despite the protest, the press conference proceeded as planned. The presence of high-profile political figures on campus has sparked debate over the appropriate use of university facilities during campaign season, raising concerns among students about the potential politicization of academic spaces.
University officials have yet to issue a formal statement regarding the use of campus grounds for political activities.
