Queens, New York — Assemblymember Steven Raga has announced new funding for the Association of Community Employment Programs for the Homeless (ACE) to help keep the streets of Elmhurst, Maspeth, Jackson Heights, and Woodside clean and free of garbage.
The partnership will support regular cleaning and beautification of sidewalks, curbs, and gutters at various locations throughout Assembly District 30, including busy stretches from Grand Avenue to Moore Homestead Park.
“It’s just sad to see our beautiful neighborhoods overflowing with trash,” Raga said. “It’s not just unpleasant to walk through, but it poses a real health hazard for our children and invites rats and roaches into our homes. That’s why I’m elated to be partnering with a non-profit like ACE—because their work will not only improve the quality of life for residents, but also give second chances to individuals who are trying to better their lives.”
Founded in 1992, ACE provides job training, paid work experience, and lifelong support to New Yorkers who have experienced homelessness, addiction, or incarceration, helping them rebuild their lives and achieve economic independence.
“ACE is thrilled to partner with New York State Assemblyman Steven Raga to help keep the sidewalks and streets of Assembly District 30 clean and beautiful,” said James Martin, ACE’s Executive Director. “Through this partnership, Assemblyman Raga is doing more than just keeping the district clean—he is helping ACE offer training and employment opportunities to hardworking New Yorkers who have overcome barriers like homelessness, addiction, and incarceration.”
District 30 residents are encouraged to contact Assemblymember Raga’s office to report public areas in need of cleaning.
