Woodside, Queens — The Queens Chamber of Commerce, together with Assemblymember Steven Raga, recently visited Little Manila in Woodside to celebrate Filipino Food Month and show support for the neighborhood’s small businesses.
The group stopped by longstanding community staples, including Phil-Am Food Mart, a trusted name since the 1970s, Renee’s Kitchenette & Grill, known for its traditional Filipino dishes, and Kabayan Bistro Lounge & Banquet, a popular spot for gatherings and celebrations.
Throughout the day, the Queens Chamber team handed out resources for small business owners and connected with the hardworking individuals behind these beloved institutions. The event highlighted the vital role these businesses play in preserving the culture, identity, and vibrancy of Little Manila.
The walk reinforced the importance of supporting local mom-and-pop shops — from freshly made longganisa and crispy lumpia to affordable $15 buffets and iconic Filipino snacks like Skyflakes — all contributing to the unique character of the neighborhood.
The celebration served as a reminder of the rich cultural heritage that makes Little Manila a thriving and essential part of Queens, the world’s borough.
