New York City — The Philippine Consulate General in New York took part in the momentous 100th Anniversary Gala Reception of the Society of Foreign Consuls in New York (SoFC), held at the historic Surrogate’s Courthouse in Lower Manhattan. Vice Consul Cathe Ryne Denice S. Aguilar represented the Consulate, joining fellow diplomats and city officials in marking a century of international cooperation and diplomatic service in one of the most diverse cities in the world.

Themed “A Legacy of Diplomacy, A Future of Possibilities,” the centennial celebration gathered more than 200 prominent guests, including consuls general, deputy mission heads, senior local and state leaders, and representatives from various international organizations. The program opened with a compelling video montage tracing SoFC’s beginnings in 1925, including its early meetings held aboard transatlantic ships such as the RMS Majestic, symbolizing the enduring spirit of global dialogue.

Vice Consul Aguilar attended on behalf of Consul General Senen T. Mangalile and the Filipino community in New York, participating in the evening’s celebration of diplomatic achievements and multicultural collaboration.

In his opening remarks, SoFC President and Consul General of Malaysia Amir Farid Abu Hasan highlighted the Society’s central role in fostering solidarity among New York’s consular offices through shared principles of mutual respect and cooperation. City leaders, including First Deputy Mayor Randy Mastro and International Affairs Commissioner Edward Mermelstein, commended the collective efforts of the diplomatic corps in strengthening New York’s global presence.

The participation of the Philippine Consulate emphasized the country’s continued commitment to international engagement and its strong connections with the multicultural communities of New York.

As the Society of Foreign Consuls begins its second century, the Philippine Consulate remains steadfast in its mission to advance diplomacy, support overseas Filipinos, and nurture partnerships that span across borders.
