Maui Police Search for Missing Filipino-Caucasian Teen in Kahului

The Maui Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a 15-year-old girl who was reported missing after leaving her residence in Kahului on Tuesday evening.

According to police, Skylee Merino was reported missing by a concerned family member on June 9, 2026. Authorities said she left her home at approximately 7:30 p.m. carrying a black carry-on-sized suitcase and a black backpack featuring an “open mouth shark” design.

Police noted that Merino does not have access to a vehicle or a cellphone.

Merino is described as Caucasian/Filipino, standing about 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing approximately 125 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes.

She was last seen wearing a light-colored long-sleeved shirt, a gray shirt, and an orange Columbia soccer jersey.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have seen Merino or has information regarding her whereabouts to contact the Maui Police Department's non-emergency line at 808-244-6400.

In case of an emergency, the public is advised to call 911 and reference MPD Report No. 26-015097.

Police continue to investigate the case and are asking community members to remain vigilant and report any information that could help locate the missing teenager.
