The 2025 NYC Pride March became a vibrant and meaningful event — not only as a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community but also as a historic gathering of city leaders. Marching one after the other were Mayor Eric Adams and mayoral frontrunner Zohran Mamdani, both showing their support for equality, unity, and human rights.

Mayor Eric Adams marched proudly alongside thousands of New Yorkers on Sunday in one of the largest LGBTQ+ events in the world. He arrived at the starting point on Fifth Avenue and 25th Street shortly after noon, where he was greeted with cheers from spectators and city officials.

Waving the rainbow flag, the mayor greeted participants, shook hands with members of the community, and took photos with attendees. His presence was widely seen as a reaffirmation of his administration’s continuing commitment to making New York City inclusive for all.

This marked Mayor Adams’ third consecutive appearance at the NYC Pride March since taking office. His administration has supported various initiatives including funding for inclusive housing, access to healthcare, and youth support services for LGBTQ+ individuals. Under heightened security implemented by the NYPD and various city agencies, the parade proceeded safely and smoothly.

Meanwhile, Zohran Mamdani arrived at 28th Street and was met with enthusiastic cheers and chants from supporters. The 33-year-old assemblymember and mayoral candidate drew attention as he danced, waved the Pride flag, and actively engaged with the crowd. Wearing a colorful sash and campaign badge, Mamdani resembled a rockstar in the eyes of the public, particularly among younger voters.

The presence of both Adams and Mamdani highlighted the continuing importance of LGBTQ+ issues in the city’s political discourse. While Adams projected experience and administrative support, Mamdani brought the energy of a progressive movement gaining momentum across New York’s communities.

As the parade concluded in Greenwich Village, both figures remained visible among the leaders and organizers, demonstrating their solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community. With the November election fast approaching, this year’s Pride March stood out not just as a celebration of identity and love — but also as a moment of political significance, showing which leaders truly stand with the voices of the people.
