
Graduating Student Shot Dead by Drunk Attacker in Abra

What was supposed to be a season of triumph ended in unimaginable tragedy for a graduating student who was shot in the head by a drunk man on Monday night in Bangued, Abra.
According to Police Major Graeme Boy Javier, chief of the Bangued Police, the victim Larry Bautista, a student of the College of Arts and Social Sciences at the Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology (ASIST) was standing outside his boarding house in Zone 7 when the suspect, identified as Erwin Buging, suddenly approached him.
Buging, who was drinking with friends nearby, allegedly saw Bautista, raised his gun without warning, and shot him point-blank in the head.
Bautista was rushed to a hospital in Abra and later transferred to a medical facility in Ilocos Sur, but he did not survive.
Javier said the suspect was extremely intoxicated and could no longer recall the crime he committed.The Bautista family is now pleading for justice for their son’s senseless death.
The ASIST community is in deep mourning. Students and faculty offered prayers and tributes to Bautista, whom they described as a cheerful, hardworking working student.
Dr. Elizabeth Fetalvero, dean of the College of Arts and Social Sciences, said Bautista used his talent in photography and videography to support his education a testament to his determination to finish his studies.
A Bible service will be held at the university before his remains are brought home to Pangasinan.
