Former Innovations International Charter School Teacher Convicted of Sexual Conduct with Students

A 49-year-old former teacher sensationally landed behind bars after pleading guilty to sexually abusing students in his own classroom.

Francisco Misajon, a Philippines native, was handed a two-to-five-year prison term by District Judge Mary Kay Holthus. He admitted to two counts of sexual conduct between a school employee and a student, each tied to a different child.

Court records reveal Misajon’s shocking abuse of trust at Innovations International Charter School in central Las Vegas. In a jaw-dropping moment, he allegedly touched a student’s private parts when the child came to his desk for help. Misajon first denied the lurid claims but eventually crackled under police questioning and confessed.

At sentencing, Judge Holthus didn’t hide her frustration with the plea deal, but she accepted it because Misajon finally admitted what he did. “The only reason I am accepting this is because he at least admitted to what he did,” she proclaimed.

Beyond prison, Misajon must register as a sex offender and will be under lifelong supervision after his release. His attorney, Chief Deputy Public Defender Erling Oster, warned that due to the conviction and Misajon’s expired visa, deportation could be on the table once his sentence is served, effectively barring any U.S. return.

A remorseful Misajon spoke through an interpreter, saying, “I hope you can forgive me for what I have done.” The judge shot back that forgiveness isn’t hers to grant. His defense team highlighted a handwritten apology letter found during police questioning as proof of “genuine remorse.”

This case has ignited fresh outrage over trust breached by someone in a role meant to protect children. Misajon’s conviction sends a brutal message: in education, there’s zero tolerance for abuse.
