Los Angeles - The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has issued a recall order for its labor attaché in Los Angeles, United States, directing her to immediately return to the Philippines and face the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee investigation into anomalous flood control projects.
In a statement released on Friday, September 12, the DMW confirmed that Labor Attaché Macy Monique Maglanque was recalled after Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” Lacson revealed her alleged connection to MBB Global Properties, a company reportedly involved in the controversial flood control projects.
The DMW clarified that no sanction has been imposed against Maglanque, but the department requires her to personally appear before the investigation.
“Today, we issued a recall order for Labor Attaché Maglanque so she can return and personally face the investigation. No penalty has been imposed yet, but it is important that she herself answer the questions—not only from the DMW but also from other inquiries as necessary. Since she was named in the privilege speech of the Senate Blue Ribbon Chair, it is our duty to follow due process and the President’s directive to hold any official accountable if there are allegations of misconduct or corruption,” explained DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac.
It may be recalled that Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon also requested the Department of Justice (DOJ) to immediately issue an Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order (ILBO) against former DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan.
The ILBO request also covered Candaba, Pampanga Mayor Rene Maglanque, as well as MBB Global Properties Corporation officials Macy Monique Maglanque, Sunshine Bernardo, and Fatima Gay dela Cruz.
According to Dizon, the ILBO is necessary for the ongoing investigation into the flood control scam.
