NEW YORK — The Filipino American Press Club of New York (FAPCNY) was recently recognized with a special proclamation and citation from New York State Assemblymember Steven Raga and Queens Borough President Donovan Richards for its exemplary contributions to journalism, public service, and community empowerment.
The recognition ceremony, held in Queens, celebrated the organization’s ongoing efforts to promote truth, ethics, and cultural awareness in media. Both the New York State Assembly and the Queens Borough President’s Office acknowledged FAPCNY’s role as a vital force in amplifying Filipino American voices and fostering integrity in journalism across the U.S. East Coast.
Established in 2011, FAPCNY is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and non-partisan organization composed of journalists, media professionals, and communication practitioners. Its mission is to uphold the highest standards of ethical reporting, accuracy, and fairness while building a strong professional and cultural network among Filipino Americans working in media and communications.
The proclamation from Assemblymember Raga and the citation from Borough President Richards both highlighted the organization’s dedication to responsible journalism and its contributions to community empowerment. The honors recognized the Press Club’s consistent advocacy for balanced and credible reporting, especially in an era when misinformation and disinformation pose serious challenges to public understanding.

For the 2024–2025 term, the organization is led by President Momar G. Visaya, Vice President Lindy Rosales, Treasurer Marilyn Abalos, Secretary Cesar “Yetbo” Loverita, and Board Members Felix Manuel, Troi Santos, Don Tagala, Myrna De Guia-Gutierrez, and Rolan Gutierrez.
Under the leadership of President Momar G. Visaya, FAPCNY has reinforced its commitment to combat misinformation and disinformation by promoting factual accuracy, media literacy, and transparency in reporting. Visaya has emphasized the importance of journalistic accountability and truth-telling as essential tools for strengthening democracy and public trust.
The organization continues to engage in programs and partnerships that uphold these values. Through forums, workshops, and collaborations with institutions such as the Philippine Consulate General in New York, FAPCNY works to support Filipino American media professionals and highlight the contributions of the Filipino diaspora to U.S. society.
The recognition from the New York State Assembly and the Queens Borough President underscores the Press Club’s growing influence as a respected organization within both the media and civic communities. It also affirms the organization’s ongoing mission to protect the integrity of information, encourage civic awareness, and promote cross-cultural understanding through responsible journalism.
Over the years, FAPCNY has become a trusted voice in the Filipino American community, providing a platform for discussion on public issues, cultural heritage, and the importance of ethical media practices. Its members continue to uphold the principles of fairness, inclusivity, and public service—ensuring that the voices and stories of Filipino Americans are heard, respected, and accurately represented across all media platforms.
With this recognition, FAPCNY reaffirms its commitment to serve both the Filipino American community and the broader public by championing credible journalism and advancing media professionalism across New York and beyond.
