Filipino American Community Honors Runners at 2026 NYC Marathon Carboloading Reception

NEW YORK, NY – The Filipino American community gathered at the Philippine Center in Manhattan for the 2026 Carboloading Reception, honoring and sending off Filipino runners preparing to participate in the iconic TCS New York City Marathon.
The reception brought together Filipino American organizations, running clubs, sponsors, friends, and supporters to celebrate the dedication and perseverance of Filipino runners who will take on the challenging 26.2-mile race across New York City’s five boroughs.
In her welcome remarks, Consul Anna Marie Mae R. Guerra emphasized that reaching the marathon starting line is already a remarkable achievement, recognizing the months of preparation, early morning training sessions, discipline, and sacrifices made by the runners.
She also reminded the participants that they would carry more than their personal ambitions when they take to the streets of New York. They would represent the pride, encouragement, and unwavering support of the Filipino community.
“Tonight is our way of telling all of you that we are proud of you. We are cheering for you. And you are not running alone,” she said.
The event highlighted the Filipino spirit of bayanihan – a tradition of helping one another, offering encouragement, and celebrating collective achievements. Organizers noted that the same spirit can be seen throughout the New York City Marathon, where thousands of spectators cheer on runners along the route.
Special recognition was given to the participating running club partners, Pinoy Runners USA, Pinoy Runners Global, Fil-Am Pride and runners that came all the way from the Philippines and other countries and states.
The reception was made possible through the support and generosity of several Filipino American organizations and sponsors.
The evening also featured practical marathon tips and reminders, a special blessing for the runners and food led by Father Patrick Longalong, games, a raffle, and a traditional Filipino-inspired meal featuring carbohydrate-rich dishes to help prepare runners for race day.
As the runners prepare for the marathon, the community encouraged them to trust their training, enjoy the experience, and remember the people supporting them every step of the way.
Whether competing for a personal record, completing their first New York City Marathon, or simply reaching the finish line, the Filipino runners will proudly carry the colors and spirit of the Philippines through the streets of New York.
The gathering served as a celebration of Filipino pride, unity, friendship, and the enduring spirit of bayanihan.
Mabuhay ang mga atletang Pilipino!
