A Filipina substitute teacher is currently in custody following an investigation into an alleged improper relationship with a student in Llano County, Texas.
The teacher was identified as 27-year-old Angela Louise Palmares. She has been charged with the second-degree felony of improper relationship between an educator and a student. Under Texas law, this is a strict liability offense, meaning the professional boundary is the focus regardless of the student’s age.
Last Tuesday (April 21, 2026), the Llano Independent School District reported the allegation to the sheriff’s office.
Palmares was immediately removed from the district’s list of substitute teachers, and the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) formally opened a case, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant.
The Texas Department of Public Safety, in coordination with the Bell County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Palmares in the Temple area without incident.
The investigation remains ongoing. The Llano County Sheriff’s Office is urging any possible victims or individuals with additional information to contact authorities immediately.
If convicted of the second-degree felony, Palmares faces a potential prison sentence of two to 20 years and a fine of up to $10,000.
Palmares is currently detained in Bell County, with bail set at $150,000.
