A 48-year-old Filipino woman arriving from Los Angeles was arrested at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 after authorities flagged her for outstanding kidnapping and estafa cases in Cebu City.
The passenger was intercepted on August 15, 2026, shortly after landing in Manila, following the enforcement of two arrest warrants issued by Cebu City courts.
According to the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group–Regional Field Unit 7 alerted NAIA Police Station 1 that an inbound passenger was wanted by authorities.
Working with the Bureau of Immigration and airline security personnel, police monitored the woman’s arrival and intercepted her at the airport’s Immigration Arrival Area.
Authorities said records showed she was covered by a Hold Departure Order and had outstanding warrants.
Police then served a 2002 Warrant of Arrest for Kidnapping and Serious Illegal Detention, with no bail recommended, along with an Alias Warrant for Estafa, also carrying no bail recommendation.
The woman reportedly failed to present an order from the issuing court authorizing her release, prompting authorities to immediately place her under arrest.
Police said she was informed of the charges against her and advised of her constitutional rights. An alternative recording device was used to document the arrest.
She was later turned over to CIDG-RFU7 for processing, documentation and proper disposition.
